A Polygeneration System Based on Desiccant Air Conditioning Coupled with an Electrical Storage

This study presents an extension of a previous paper recently published by the authors. In particular, current focuses on adding electrical storage to polygeneration system developed for residential applications. Different from work, it aims design off-grid facility. The plant provides electricity, space heating and cooling, domestic hot water, freshwater single-family dwelling in Almería, Spain. main technologies are photovoltaic/thermal collectors, reverse osmosis, desiccant air conditioning. Lead-acid battery was added as backup system. performed TRNSYS simulation environment one year with 5-min time step. A parametric carried out investigate grid dependence according number batteries installed. Design optimization also provide optimal configuration case. solar collector efficiency 0.55 air-conditioning coefficient performance 0.42 were obtained. All demands fully supplied, primary energy saving CO2 achieved 100%. minimum state charge 30% reached few hours all long.
